Art is something that is different to everyone. Art is considered by some to be the cultivation and
combination of human technology and creativity. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary,
art is defined as the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production
of aesthetic objects. I think that writing is this. Writing is an art form. It's a way for humans to
explore and investigate their hearts and minds, but also a way for them to let out their desires.
Writing always has a purpose, such as everything else in the world. Whether it may be to vent
out or to create something, everyone writes with a purpose in mind. Without purpose, writing
cannot be forming. If you write without purpose, then it just becomes rambling, much like if you
speak without purpose. So I think that you need a purpose to write.
Time and place are important. I think if people find inspiration to write, then they will. In my case,
I need a place without distractions or temptations. So anywhere but my home, and i need to be
by myself. So for me, my inspiration is putting myself into a situation where i can do nothing but
write. I think that’s because I don’t write unless I have to. If it is required of me, I will sit down
and write. It’s just how I’m wired. This goes back to purpose, some peoples purpose is out of
necessity.
Writing requires a lot of sitting down and hearing other people’s ideas, peer reviewing
and revision. This is something that I have learned and have become accustomed to when
writing
papers for my college writing class. Fortunately, I actually enjoy peer reviews and hearing other
people’s ideas because it helps me make my writing better as there is always something to
revise after peer reviews.
I previously mentioned how I dislike timed writing assignments but in a way I feel like
they are necessary. I am a big procrastinator when it comes to writing. In fact, I will do anything
to take my mind off of a writing assignment. In a way, it is an embarrassment but it is the truth.
If my friends were to ask me to hangout, or my girlfriend asks me to go somewhere to eat with
her, or spending “10 minutes” watching YouTube, I would do any of the above to avoid the
assignment. That’s how much I dislike writing. If I get easily distracted, then how do I manage to
actually finish these writing assignments?
I have one specific strategy that I follow when it comes to most writing assignments.
